THE FIRST STEP OF OVERHAULING YOUR PROFESSIONAL WARDROBE

You have had the revelation, the light bulb moment. It is time to dress better. Your ill fitting clothing, dated patterns and faded suits need to be changed up. But where do you start?

The three questions we go over with our clients are:

1. What do you have in your wardrobe now? There is no sense buying all new garments if we can re-purpose what you already have.
2. Who is your target market? Are you a realtor targeting recent retirees in a conservative area? Or are you a recent grad applying for jobs in the tech sector? it makes a difference in what you should be adding to your wardrobe.
3. How do you want to present yourself? Bold and stylish or timeless and classy?

​If you can answer those three questions it will help you narrow down the colors, patterns, styles and types of garments you will be looking to purchase.

​Here are a few examples on how to dress for a specific goal when it comes to your professional outfits or professional wardrobe:

• Timeless & Classy - Timeless colors are navy blue, true blue, charcoal, light grey and black for suits. Make sure you have a few white and light blue dress shirts in your closet as well as black and dark blue ties with simple patterns. Always top it off with a white cotton pocket square.

• Bold & Professional - Being bold does not mean going overboard. You can have the bold red blazer, jacquard jackets and that wild patterned shirt but make sure you add the staple colors as well. Black pants and a white shirt with a red blazer allows the red to pop without any other colors competing.

• Fashion Forward - Pay attention to Pantone's colors the second they come out. You would know that Ultra Violet will be all the rage in the Spring and Summer. You would also know by looking through magazines, Instagram influencers and style blogs what is coming and what looks great. Bonus tip, have a style icon you can go to for tips.
