Keep Up To Date: Men’s Professional Style Tips

Tailor making a custom suit

Tip #6: Make sure your clothes are up-to-date and in good condition.

When it comes to fashion, it's easy to get caught up in trends. But while trendy styles may be popular in the moment, they often don't last beyond a few years. In order to achieve a timeless, sophisticated look, it's important to focus on the basics: proper fit, timeless colors (navy charcoal, greys, white, blues), classic patterns (herringbone, glen plaid, windowpane), and an overall "James Bond-esque" appearance (clean, classy and fitted).

Pitfalls

Let's look at some of the pitfalls of trendy fashion. Super skinny fit clothes were recently in style, but they quickly went out. Wearing sweat pants or pajamas everywhere might be comfortable, but it's not exactly classy. Bell bottoms and platform shoes are examples of styles that come and go - they may be popular for a time, but eventually, they'll fall out of fashion and even be mocked for generations.

Timeless Clothing

So, what does a timeless look look like? Most importantly, it's all about proper fit. Make sure your clothes fit well and are comfortable to move in. Hem your pants and sleeves so they fall without bunching, and consider tapering and darts on your shirt and jacket to take out any excess fabric. If you're a bodybuilder or have an athletic build, consider investing in custom clothing - the cost will be worth it, since alterations are often included.

In addition to fit, focus on timeless colors. Neutral hues like white, black, grey, and navy are always in style, as are classic patterns like stripes and plaid. And if you want to add a pop of color, consider a bold, statement-making piece, like a bright blue suit jacket.

Finally, aim for an overall "James Bond-esque" appearance. Think of the classic movie spy - he's always impeccably dressed in well-fitting, sophisticated clothing, especially Daniel Craig and even George Lazenby had amazing fits. Bond is not afraid to take risks with his style, but he always looks put-together and refined.

Conclusion

If you want to achieve a timeless, sophisticated look, focus on proper fit, timeless colors, classic patterns, and an overall "James Bond-esque" appearance. Avoid trendy styles that come and go, and instead, opt for the basics that will stand the test of time. With these guidelines in mind, you'll always look polished, put-together, and stylish.

After travelling to Thailand and Europe soon after his wedding he was introduced to bespoke clothing and various timeless styles. As a lover of all things men's fashion, he started Cardero Clothing to keep men from making the same mistakes he did.
